The CAM (Certified Apartment Manager) Credential Program/ Version 2 curriculum is designed to enhance the skills of the on-site property management professional. Shane is a Regional Manager for Continental Realty Corporation. He landed in multi-family in 2015 after twenty years as a retail executive. Since joining the industry, Shane has been very active in the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association, serving on the Board of Directors, on the NextGen, Annual Bus Tour, and DEI Committees, on the Education Advisory Council (EAC), as Chair of the Education Foundation Board, and as a volunteer instructor.
Shane earned his CAM credential in 2019 and was a GCAA Leadership Lyceum graduate the same year. He went on to earn his CAPS credential in 2020; after having been awarded the program scholarship from the GCAA in 2019, and graduated from AANC's Leadership Lyceum program in 2022. His passion for the industry and education led to his 2021 appointment as GCAA’s EAC Chair and as Vice Chair of AANC’s NextGen Committee. He now serves as the AANC DEI Chair and completed NAA's Leadership Lyceum program in 2023. In 2024 Shane joined the Board of Directors for Entryway of Charlotte. He was also recognized by his former company for his dedication and performance as Manager of the Year in 2018, and was awarded GCAA's 2022 Instructor of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards. In 2024 Shane was recognized as Corporate Professional of the Year and Instructor of the Year.
Shane is originally from Portsmouth, VA. He relocated to NC in 2002 and eventually to Charlotte in 2005. He revels life in Charlotte and says it’s now home. Known as 'Charlotte Shane,' and as a self-proclaimed foodie, you’ll often find him crisscrossing the city in search of the best craft beer, craft cocktails, and craft coffee. In his spare time, Shane serves as the President of the Board for his community HOA and enjoys running, going to the movies, time with family and friends, and embarrassing his teenage daughter. He looks forward to continuing to share his passion for multi-family and industry education, and to making a lasting impact for our future leaders.
Todd Whitlow is a co-founder of Brownlee Whitlow & Praet, PLLC, bringing nearly two decades of experience in the rental housing industry. He serves as the firm's Director of Legal Operations, leading a team that handles all aspects of property operations throughout the Southeast. A committed advocate for the industry, Todd actively participates on committees at the national, state, and local levels, and regularly delivers education across the sector. As an NAAEI faculty member, he brings both practical acumen and a genuine passion for elevating standards and knowledge throughout the rental housing community.
Stephanie Loyd brings over 18 years of experience in the multifamily industry with a strong background in corporate marketing, sales, training, and education. She is a CALP and CAM instructor, a national speaker, and the first-ever recipient of the NAA Rising Star Award. She is also a member of the NAAEI Faculty. Stephanie is a National Sales Executive at Smart Apartment Data. She is a graduate of both the NAA Leadership Lyceum and AANC Leadership Lyceum programs. Stephanie is currently an Officer at Large for the National Suppliers Council and a member of the NAA Operations committee. Additionally, she is a certified instructor with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, where she teaches Mental Health First Aid. Stephanie’s passion for helping others in the multifamily industry really sets her apart.
Terry Ragland has worked in the property management industry for 35 years at the property, regional, and corporate levels. As Regional Vice President of Operations with Asset Living, she oversees management of properties across North Carolina, Virgina, South Carolina and Georgia. Terry enjoys giving back to the industry from which she has received so much. She teaches National Apartment Association (NAA) designation classes and seminars for associations across several states, serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) and serves nationally on NAAEI’s Curriculum Development Committee.
Locally, she has served as President of both the Triangle Apartment Association and Triangle Apartment Association Education Foundation boards and has served on the Apartment Association of North Carolina Board of Directors. She serves on the AANC Education Committee at the state level and serves as a board member for the Institute of Real Estate Management.
Terry graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM), Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS), Certified Property Manager (CPM) and is a licensed Real estate broker in NC.
John started his career in the apartment industry in 1975. He has been a certified instructor for the National Apartment Association (NAA) since 2009. In 2001, John joined a newly formed multifamily management company as a service technician and was later promoted to Service Manager in 2002. John was promoted to Senior Service Manager in 2012. John was Service Manager of the Year in 2006 and received the Positive Impact Award in 2010. John retired in 2024 from the Multi-family management company. John currently serves on the Education Committee with the Wilmington Apartment Association. John has been a key mentor to service personnel since 2011. He teaches maintenance-related classes for the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association (PTAA), Wilmington Apartment Association (WAA), Triangle Apartment Association (TAA), and Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA). He co-authored HVAC Best Practices for local apartment associations. John has a degree in Horticulture from NC State University. John’s certifications include: NSPF Certified Pool Operator, (CAMT) Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician, Certified Storm Water BMP Inspections & Maintenance, EPA Universal and R-410A. He is a certified R-410A Instructor and a Certified Appliance Technician (CAP) for Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire, and General Electric. John was inducted into the AANC (Apartment Association of North Carolina) Hall of Fame in 2023. John resides in Richlands, NC, and his hobbies include boating, fishing, and playing musical instruments.
